Self-registration / Request to Join

martin 7 years ago updated by Andreas 7 years ago 1

On the login screen of a Ryver site, there needs to be a way to self-register (with approval from an admin, of course), or a way to request to join, which an admin can then approve.

This way, I can send a link to the site to the users in my organization and they can sign up without me having to invite them individually.

(It is better if they request to join, rather than me "forcing" the solution on them).

Smiley

Please, can you change the graphic of smiley :) to something less laughing? When using current smiley, conversation is often misunderstood and seems ironic. Thank you

Chat with Images Should be Posted below not above the image

Jiego Mojica 7 years ago updated by Nat 6 years ago 1

Just a small suggestion. When a poster attaches an image to a chat post, It's probably better if the text appears below the image and not above the image which is currently the default. It's easier to read this way.

Different Search Categories - Messages, People, Tags (Tag Cloud)

martin 7 years ago 0

Currently the search on the top left gives you only the option to search for messages using a free input search field. However, it would be nice if it provided some sub-categories, like searching for messages or people. (The people search would be a handy complement to #[293], in which private discussions could be started with multiple people by choosing names from a list of people).

Additionally a search in the form of a tag cloud would also be useful as a way to see existing tags and how frequently they are used, allowing the user to click on a tag and see corresponding messages, as an alternative to searching by tags.

Thumbnails for uploaded documents

Caleb Adams 7 years ago 0

Make is so that when files are uploaded they can be seen more easily. Maybe add some sort of thumbnail that underneath the upload that includes the title, and some other (meta) information about the file, a small image depicting the file would be nice as well. Similar to how google drive links look.

Deep linking of Windows Notifications

Stefanus “HowlinWulf” Fourie 7 years ago updated 7 years ago 5

When receiving notifications, it would be amazing if I could click on it and it then takes me to that message or at least that forum/team/DM in which that alert was triggered.

Currently it just opens the Ryver Desktop Client on the page you last had open, which is fine, but the deep link would be next level.

Allow choosing notification sound in app

noam composica 7 years ago 0

Would love to have the option to select the sound used by the mobile app's notification, to allow differentiating it from other notifications on the device.

Unread count per team/forum

Frederick Kuhne 7 years ago updated by Karel 6 years ago 4

It would be useful to have a count of unread items as a prefix or suffix on the team/forum name.

Ie. <UnreadCount><TeamName>

Add Auto-scroll to message feature

fxfighter 7 years ago updated by jeff 7 years ago 1

Slack has a feature where you can right click on the timestamp next to any message and paste that as a perma link into chat, when clicked the link autoscrolls the chat to that message.

The reply feature in Ryver should be able to serve this same purpose.

Start a google hangout with /hangout like in slack.

Kris Nye 7 years ago updated by CARLOS - EL COACH 6 years ago 2

And then have a link to the hangout invitation added directly to the chat.

In slack I just type /hangout

In ryver you have to

Provide integration with RSS feeds

Bill Gravelle 7 years ago updated by jeff 6 years ago 6

I know you initially encourages this integration via Zapier. We're using this successfully for a few feeds, paying only the Basic monthly fee to Zapier. However, I'm looking to integrate feeds from a wiki that would require me to add several dozen more API definitions - that would increase our monthly fee within Zapier considerably.

Is there any way that Ryver can provide this integration directly - or is there an alternate service that would be less expensive to aggregate many RSS feeds - or is there some programming solution available through the Ryver Developer APIs?

Please help - thanks, *bg

Implementation of windows notifications

Austin Best 8 years ago updated by jeff 7 years ago 6

The windows desktop software should be using the standard windows API for notifications. If i receive a new message, i want to see that message in the bottom corner of my screen (similar to how every other messenger system works). Currently i have to install 3rd party software to achieve this and that makes no sense when there is a very simple windows API to accomplish this. Thanks for reading!

Auto-away status update

Jeremiah 8 years ago updated by Tim 6 years ago 6

I've seen other entries about automatically setting presence status to away or available based on computer activity, which is great but I don't think it works. I'm on windows 7 with the desktop app and I don't notice any change in status no matter how long computer inactivity is. ALSO, when I lock my windows machine, Ryver status should automatically be set to away, and when I unlock it, back to available, and it most definitely does not do that. That's the standard way chat applications have worked for decades. Should be standard in Ryver also.
