Welcome to the Ryver Product Ideas forum! We pride ourselves on constantly improving Ryver based on customer feedback. Here, you can view and vote on the current list of feature ideas, or add your own idea if you don't see it.
For immediate support, go to https://support.ryver.com and click the Chat tab in the lower left. You can also request help from the Send Feedback link in the top drop-down menu in the application nav bar.
In our Ryver community (ibmioss) we have a lot of chats that get promoted to posts and that is very confusing if you started a chat and it was promoted to a post by somebody else (you wonder "where'd it go?"). I then need to go to the posts tab and start looking. Instead it would be good if an existing chat could be marked as a post and that would start a form of indentation within the chat pane. This means the post tab would go away. This would also necessitate a "Filter" feature on the chat pane (maybe refactored to not be named chat, because posts would also be there) that would allow just posts to be displayed.
I don't want to derail this feature that's already planned. But I did want to convey that the current approach is not immediately intuitive (and even after understanding the feature I still get lost).
Although most people in the world are used to the most recent message appearing below the last one (on the bottom), it could be more efficient to show the latest message above the last one. Would avoid a lot of scrolling down.
It would be great if you could hold down Control and select multiple people to start a conversation with them without creating a new private team, similar to the way you can do it on Skype.
For this, of course, you would need a more convenient list of people to choose from.
(Perhaps the Search on the top-left should be extended to include sub-categories, e.g. searching for messages or searching for people, although I would also want it to work from the list of direct chats I have at present; i.e. I would like to select people from there).
Displaying only the day of the week and not the complete date doesn't make sense for older messages. Looking at the screenshot below, you'd think that the "Wednesday 9:52pm" message was sent yesterday, but it's actually months old. If a post is older than 1 week, it should display the date instead. "9/21/2016 9:52pm" makes much more sense in this context.
When you click on someones name to start a chat, or in a forum or anywhere, the cursor should default to the typing box. It is quite annoying to click on the person and start typing to constantly find i again have to click just to focus the cursor. This is such a simple change and oversight i would hope it could be implemented sooner than later!
If you are transferring very large files and/or files you just don't care if they are saved for later or not. P2P file transfer could be better since you then wouldn't have to send them to the server first. In particular when you are on the same network as the person you are sending the file to this could increase the speed a lot.
It would be nice if you could add a button to help with formatting of chat messages. I think this would be very useful for people who are not used to markdown. It could be something as simple as a quick-help button that explains it. However I think the solution I would prefer is that you select some text and then click a button that pops up a menu with all formating to choose from.
